Men please help us raise money for the American Cancer Society by competing in the Miss Relay Contest.
Contestants will take one lap around the track and collect as much money as possible from the general public.
Bring a purse to collect money from fans and admirers. (Cheating is allowed, so purses may have cash in them at the start!)
The “beautiful lady” who collects the most money wins the title of Miss Relay!!!
Good-Luck!

Newtown's Own Daria Musk
Daria's 20-minute set begins around 11:30pm.
She joins returning artist and Connecticut native Javier Colon who is scheduled to perform during opening ceremonies at around 5:30pm. In between, enjoy the music of the Bandolins, Lindsay and Hafez - two talented string players - as well as two dance performances by local troupes and more.
DJ Rodd Blessey will keep it all together and happening with his contributions throughout the night, and don't forget to come up with some really BAD requests for Rodd's "Buck On - $5 Off Request Game," for Relay participants only at 12:30am.

Got Fun - Need Fun???
We've had a couple of adjustments to the schedule I wanted to bring to everyone's attention. We've moved the Walk With A Hero Auction from 11:30 to 7:30 pm, to create more excitement with our hero emergency service and fire volunteers who will escort their winning bidders around the track.
This has opened up an entertainment slot at 11:30 which I have extended to Newtown's own recording artist Daria Musk. If Daria accepts our invite, I will update the schedule and blog this update immediately.
This, however, still leaves us with an open entertainment slot at 3:30 am. If we don't get a better offer, I am prepared to take the stage to play some guitar and sing a few numbers.
If you have a better idea for entertainment at 3:30 am, quickly let me know via the Relay's gmail!

The countdown to MAXIMUM Relay fun has begun!!!
As we step back and remember the serious reason why we have all come forward, whether it's as a survivor, a team member, a corporate sponsor/donor, or just an individual or family who has never attended a Relay for Life before, we also should take advantage of this opportunity to bring the entire Newtown community together on June 5 - to celebrate more Birthdays.
I urge everyone to begin spreading the word, via emails, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and through your social networks at school, on the sidelines at sporting events, and in your neighborhoods. Just tell everyone - 'If you or someone you love is celebrating a birthday this year, we want them to come to opening ceremonies.' Our hope is to have the largest single group in Connecticut singing 'Happy Birthday' to our survivors, to each other, and in memory of those we have lost!
We are also looking to fill in a few blanks in our hourly schedule of activities, so I encourage teams that do not have a special lap idea, to create a simple party game that can either be played at your tent site, or as part of the entertainment during the evening.
This year we will also have two ways of communicating upcoming activities - with a flip chart at the registration tent, and through a group of 'town crier' volunteers who will be walking the track every 15 - 30 minutes shouting out the upcoming hour's information.
We hope this will help everyone stay up to the minute on happenings, as well as serve as a reminder for teams gearing up for their moment in the spotlight!
Please check the schedule and see where your team might fit in to the theme lap or entertainment schedule, and let me know via email about your plans at relayforlifeofnewtown@gmail.com.
Thanks to all for all your great work and ideas so far. If you need some ideas for simple party games, check these links:
